As a winner of the prestigious Orange County California Music Awards of
2003, Darenda Owens broadened her talents in entertainment to share with others as the CEO of NashvilleRadio.Biz. NashvilleRadio.Biz, located in the Pilcher Building, on 2nd Avenue in downtown Nashville is where a variety of radio programming takes place. From this 2,500 square foot station listeners can experience good ole Country Opry Gospel Rock and more from more than 15 radio personalities throughout the week. Darenda states, we want to provide a stage for opportunity in all areas. “She continued, ‘We keep things different and exciting. it’s like reality radio} you never know what’s going to happen next however we are respectful of our audience as a Family audience."
Singing has always been Darenda’s first love. She is the first of three daughters born in Houston, Texas to a preacher Darrell and his wife Barbara Owens. Singing her first song in church at the age of two years old, Darenda developed her singing talents on the road traveling and singing in churches throughout the United States with her Family as the Owens Family.
As an adult, Darenda relocated to California where she performed in such places as the Coach House, the House of Blues and others. Referred to as a dynamic, romantic, fantastic singer… Darenda sings gospel rock ‘n’ roll and country. It was noted in a former interview ’Her unique interpretation makes every song sound if it were written just for her " After being named ‘Best Country Artist” of 2003 at the Orange County California Music Awards, it was written: She sings a country song like she was born in the heart of Texas. You think, this girl is ‘pure country ” and that’s when she knocks you out with her hard driving rock’ n roll. When you recover from that surprise, she’ll cut to the core of your soul with a gospel melody.
If its music, she sings it.
It is for this reason, Darenda returns to Nashville to share the music in all its forms. ‘When God gave us music, He didn’t divide it into categories. “In August of 2005, NashvilleRadio.Biz began broadcasting as xradio Nashville. Recently the station has undergone a change that moved Darenda from franchise station management to CEO of
NashvilleRadio.Biz. With the belief that music should not be categorized she maintains the idea as CEO of NashvilleRadio.Biz, that her purpose is to expose the world to the independent artists of Nashville. ‘It all goes back to God who made us all different and he didn’t' categorize the music, He just gave us music in all forms and that’s what I want to do at the station, “she stresses. In an effort to give people a chance to be heard around the world she is currently finalizing goals that would include NashvilleRadio.Biz to be a hub for programming each variety of music genres, incorporating cameras in the station and doing live remotes.
October 15, 2006, from noon ‘til 4 p.m., will be the first live NashvilleRadio.Biz remote at B. B. Kings, 2nd Avenue, for a gospel segment that airs daily from 8 a.m.-11 a.m. as the morning inspiration, led by programmer Carlos Hale.
Darenda lives by the rule of Donald Trump that states, ‘As long as you’re thinking, think BIG. “And from this she is developing a station that will shake the nation. ‘I’m doing what l love to do. That’s why it finally feels so right " she states, as she didn’t know where her musical career would lead her in her effort to just ‘share" what God has given her Although she has not had a lot of time to do much singing in several months, Darenda, continues to ‘do" music.
NashvilleRadio.Biz is located on 2nd Avenue in the Pilcher Building. Currently the station is accessed by logging onto the internet however, with the purchase of a wireless component NashvilleRadio. Biz is also accessible in vehicles. The 2,500 square foot studio is comfortable and just down the hall from a state-of -the -art recording studio.
The studio is utilized for live airing with an audience that can accommodate approximately 40 people. Darenda’s life of entertainment is truly broadening. . .
